Paris Clubs
The nightlife in Paris is like nowhere else on Earth. Most of the Paris clubs are in repurposed historic sites, giving them a unique atmosphere for an already sophisticated scene and an equally sophisticated crowd.
The Scene
In Paris, the club-scene is much more than just drinking and dancing. It's about seeing and being seen. While rubbing elbows with the poshest of club-goers, you can expect impeccable service, well-dressed patrons, and music cut by some of the best DJs in the world.
Paris nightlife is just that: true night life. Many clubs don't open until midnight on weekends, but you can expect them to stay open and partying until dawn.
Parisian dance clubs have a fairly-strict dress code, and are famous for turning away anyone who does not fit their idea of chic. While formal dress in unnecessary, don't expect to get let in unless you are wearing high heels or long pants.
Paris dance clubs play an eclectic mix of hip-hop, techno, jazz, and world music. The city is home to some of the world's greatest DJ's and jazz musicians, making it easy to dance the night away no matter what your mood. Some clubs are 16 and over, so be prepared to see high school kids dancing beside you. Other clubs have more exclusive age-limits.
Les Bains Douches
This club is named for its history as a Turkish bathhouse and frequent destination of Marcel Proust. Now, thanks to star DJ and owner Daivd Guetta, les Bains has become one of the hottest clubs in Europe.
The club promises a celebrity and haute-couture crowd, so be prepared to party in style The cover is often high compared to other clubs, but you'll soon forget about the cost once you step inside and see light bouncing off the decor, feel the bass pumping through the floor, and see the beautiful French creatures writhing on the dance floor.
Les Bains Douches is not specifically a gay club, but does have several gay-friendly parties throughout the year.
Le Divan du Monde
Baudelaire and Pablo Picasso frequented Le Divan du Monde when it was a classic French cabaret.Today, the club is the perfect place to meet up with friends or experience some of the most modern new-wave and indie type music. The club has two dance floors, and has differently-themed parties with a variety of musical acts on all nights of the week.
Caveau de la Huchette
If you love jazz, a trip to the Latin Quarter's Caveau de la Huchette is in order. The lower level of the club is literally a cave. Locals and tourists alike agree that this is one of the best jazz experiences in all of Paris.
