Here is a list of highlights to get you started.
Upscale Boutiques near the Louvre
Hotel de Vendome
Billed as a luxury boutique hotel, the Hotel de Vendome delivers with opulent furnishings and grand drapes in the rooms, a piano bar and restaurant, and close proximity to some of the best jewelry shops in Paris. The small hotel opened in 1998, and is located in the beautiful plaza of Place Vendome only a block from the Tuilleries gardens and about a seven minute walk from the Louvre. A double room ranges between 500 and 800 Euro per night, while the spacious suites can be over 1,000 Euro.
Hotel Meurice
Hotel Meurice is a stylish landmark, and has hosted such illustrious figures as Salvador Dali, Rudyard Kipling, and Elizabeth Taylor since its origins in the 1700s. Located on Rue de Rivoli a five minute walk from the Louvre, the Meurice juxtaposes period pieces with contemporary style and is a Parisian legend for it. Catering to the rich and famous, it is difficult to find a room below 700 Euro, but splurging here is well worth it.
Happy Mediums
Timhotel le Louvre
The Timhotel is a modern hotel known for being family friendly. Best of all, it is located less than a ten minute walk from the Louvre on Rue de la Banque, and the route takes you right around the edge of the beautiful Jardin du Palais Royal. With only 56 rooms, it has an intimate, personal vibe, and rates can be as low as 99 Euro. An inner courtyard, patio, and striped awnings outside give it an artsy, classic feel - perfect for staying in the cultural heart of Paris.
Hotel Washington Opera
A standard room in the Hotel Washington Opera, located right on Rue de Richelieu, goes for 215 Euro per night - not a bad deal considering its location and romantic Louis XV decor. The building was formerly a private townhouse of Madame Pompadour, and has an almost bed-and-breakfast feel to it as a result. Parisian elegance and prime location are the Washington Opera's two big draws.
Westin Paris
Directly bordering the Jardin de Tuilleries, the Westin Paris averages out between 300 and 400 Euro per night for a room, with Eiffel Tower-view rooms a bit more expensive. Amenities include a spa and gym, as well as a bar and unique, trendy restaurant (le First). The restaurant opens up an outdoor patio called La Terrasse when weather permits, and it appears more like a garden than a restaurant with its lush landscaping.
On a Budget
Hotel de Rouen
The Hotel de Rouen is certainly no-frills, but if you don't need a lot of luxury to be happy then you can snag a room here for only 55 Euro a night. Located a short walk away from the Louvre to the east of the Jardin du Palais Royal, the combination of price and location is hard to beat if you don't mind the backpacking crowd.
