The Musée d'Orsay Paris
Since it opened in 1986, The Musée d'Orsay Paris has been home to the most extensive collection of French impressionist and post impressionist masterpieces, displaying collections of art from the period 1848 to 1914.
Those visiting The Musée d'Orsay Paris between September 2011 and January 2012 will enjoy the special exhibit Beauty, Morals and Voluptuousness in the England of Oscar Wilde which explores the British aesthetic movement that rejected the ugliness and materialism of the mid 1800s and focused on a new idealization of art and beauty that was free from the constraints of Victorian piety.
The exhibit allows visitors to see the time through the emblematic works of Dante Gabriel Rossetti, Edward Burne-Jones, William Morris, James McNeill Whistler, Oscar Wilde and Aubrey Beardsley. The movement united the artists in a quest to fuse artistic creation and practical lifestyle.
