Paris Plage, or Paris Beach
Paris Plage is unlike any other summer event and can be enjoyed for one month. Each summer, two miles of Seine is shut down and prohibits cars to pass through. Its aim is to give the public reign of this beautiful stretch near the water.
The white sand and sun beds of Paris Plage host entertainment like concerts, volleyball tournaments, and much more. As far as swimming goes, it's not advised to take a dip in the Seine (because the water is not as enjoyable as it may seem.) However, there are floating pools along the Paris Plage where pedestrians are encouraged to cool off.
Paris Plage is a bustling yet modest event. Though existing by donations from sponsors, the creator of Paris Plage wanted it to feel as natural as possible. So, it's not bombarded with logos or advertisements and keeps any visitor underwhelmed by commercialism.
One thing is for sure; you don't want to miss this incredible event, because just one month later this stretch of paradise will be once again jam-packed with cars.
